Those considering the types of barriatric surgery need to be told that the intestines absorb carbohidrates, vitamins, and fluids. Need for these things very with time. As both a post bypass patient and a RN myrecomendation is bypass, not sleeves or bands. 178 lb.loss and reversal of comorbitys, as a very mature adult are the bennifit I experienced.
I have had the most intestin bypassing surgery that was possible in 2005. I follow the vitamin intake very carefully. I still have to adjust the amounts I consum, as my levels fluctuate. The amount of food I can consume has increased. I am now trying to lose 50 lbs that came back with an adrenal tumor. It is much harder this time. My bennifits from this surgery is every comorbidity diapeared. At 88 yrs old I stoped every prescription medication(11), and the pain from chronic Rumatoid arthritis became manageable with OTC's for about 3 years. I would have done this years earlier if I had known the benifits would be so great. For any one morbidly obese who can't obtain permant weight loss with a safe diet and excersize program; barriatric surgery is a very real option.
