What are personal breathalyzers

Personal breathalyzers are those with which you can easily measure the blood alcohol content in your blood. These are convenient and simple to use at home, in a party or in a car. You can give them to your guests and be a very responsible host.

The personal alcohol breathalyzer will help you measure the blood alcohol content or the BAC so that you can take a decision to drive or not to drive. When you drink alcohol it does not get digested with within the body rather it gets ingested into the blood. After that it takes time to get out of the body either via lungs and evaporation or by the liver and kidneys. It is this alcohol which is in your breath will measured by the breath analyzing machines or even the personal breathalyzer keychain.

The legal limit for driving is .08% BAC but you can be arrested for dui even if you are having a .05%BAC. The reason is simple because you may be under the legal limit but you may be under the influence of alcohol and it may be dangerous for you as well as for the other traffic on the road.

Features of alcohol breathalyzers

There are law enforcement breathalyzers which can be used by the law enforcement folks and these are based on the fuel cell technology. There are a lot of personal alcohol testers available in the market and these either use the fuel cell technology or the standard alcohol testing semiconductor technology to measure the BAC.

The best way to use these breathalyzers is to make sure that you breathe into the breathing tube and then wait for a few seconds to see the result. After the number of tests specified you will have to replace the fuel cells or the sensor to get accurate results. Some of the most common brands of the breathalyzers are the Alcohawk pro breathalyzer and SAFE alcohol breath analyzers and BACTRACK S50

These testers will in most cases have a one year warranty and they operate on a battery which is 1.5V AAA power source battery.

Most states do not allow the driving under the influence of alcohol and they have hefty fines and penalties in the case of drunken driving. These are the loss of your driver's license, usually 6 months. You will be on Probation of 3-5 years. You will be required to do community service as well as substantial fines ranging from $1400-$1800. In addition there will be alcohol education classes 12-45 hours for you as well as additional financial burden in terms of increased automobile insurance rates. In a lot of cases there is the 48 hours of jail time. >

To avoid this it is better that you make sure that you do not have any sort of BAC in your blood and that can easily happen if you are able to measure it effectively. There are several types of personal breathalyzers available as explained above. Again there are also car breathalyzers which will generally cut off the ignition of your BAC is above .08%.

In a lot of cases people will generally try to fight their Dui conviction but that comes at a later stage because the best way to do is to make sure to measure the BAC rather than get into all sorts of legal tangles. Make sure that the personal breathalyzer that you are buying is DOT approved that is department of transportation approved for alcohol screening.

Really great hub....

So many people underestimate their bodies - they think 1-2 drinks will have no affect on them simply because they can "hold their limit". What they don't realize is that many factors influence ones' level of drunkeness as well as the dangers of drinking and driving. Although its best to avoid drinking and driving, at least with a personal breathalyzer one can easily determine if they're past their limit. And, this awareness might keep them from killing themselves or someone they love. In addition, knowing the state laws can vastly influence ones decision as well. http://drunkdrivinglaws.info
